FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
14u program
When will the 14u teams be decided?
- In order to register for USSSA tournaments, teams will be determined by February 15th. Roster changes may still occur after players are entered into the USSSA rosters.
If my player cannot play in practice, games, or a tournament how should I notify RoughRiders Admin?
- Please mark your players availability for practices and tournaments in Crossbar as soon as possible. If you know you will be out of town for holidays, spring break, or any other dates please indicate that in Crossbar now.
How many teams will there be?
- There will be 3 teams this year. Teams may be a little larger than they were in 13u. This will prepare the players for high school where there are usually have 16 players per roster.
When 14U joins the HS practices come summer time, will the practice times change? Will they be during the work day?
- 14u practices will be in the evening hours until high school practices start. High school practices are held during the day on weekdays. While we understand this may be difficult for working parents, holding practice during the day allows our HS players to have the most resources (coaches, equipment, turf) available to them. Once schedules are made, we will offer a makeup practice day/time in the evening for those who can not make day-time practices.
When are high school games?
- High school games are usually Thursday - Sunday. Unlike with 13u tournaments, games on Sunday are determined by team scores from Thursday - Saturday and not based on bracket play.
When are the out of state tournaments?
- The out of state tournaments are TBD as of November 2024. You can roughly plan for 1 tournament late May/early June and another early/mid July.
How is it determined which player will/can go to which tournament?
- Playing in these out of state tournaments are optional. All players are invited to both tournaments. More tournament information will be available by March 1st.
Are the out of state tournament for the players only? Can families attend?
- Anyone is welcome to join on our out of state tournaments. It is not required, however, as multiple coaches will be attending the trip.
Is air-fare included in our registration fee of the tournament?
- No, flights are not included in the registration fee. All flights must be purchased by you. All player's flights must correspond with our coaches flights which will be provided with the tournament details.
How do I sign my player up for the included Impact classes?
- Instructions will be sent out via email and posted on our website as we near the 2025 season. If you would like to purchase an Impact membership outside of the included package, please contact Impact directly by visiting their front desk or their website.
Which Impact classes should my player attend? How frequently?
- If you’re unsure of which classes are best for your player, please seek out guidance from Chad Jacobsen, Chad Povich, David Ellingson or an Impact coach. We’d recommend each player to take a minimum of 2 classes/week.
Does 14u still need GameChanger volunteers?
- Yes. Please email us if you are interested in helping with GameChanger.
How do I know if the high school game requires a wood bat?
- It’s best practice to have your player bring a metal and wood bat with them to every game.
What type of wood bat should we purchase?
- Justbats.com is a good place to look for information. There is a youtube video on their website that provides information.
